Not enough information to estimate a person’s whole portfolio. 22 of 48 candidates are excluded with no identified 2026 stock purchase in the model set or an unavailable required stock/date price. No zero-return fallback is used. Some fully priced members have only a few stock lines. Different disclosure timing can move both measures. Sales requiring undisclosed pre-2026 lots are not modeled; the incremental sample does not claim to set the member’s actual cost basis or opening holdings.
Full transparent methodology and limitations
- Use identifiable individual-company common/common-equivalent 2026 buy/sell lines, excluding options, funds, ETFs, trusts and exchanges. Combine midpoint ranges for same-person, same-ticker, same-date transactions in the same direction.
- Divide those midpoints by the latest available daily split-adjusted closing price on or before the transaction date to estimate shares. This is not an observed execution or share count.
- Compute synthetic buys and sales against this disclosed 2026 incremental pool only. If a sale exceeds available modeled shares, excess proceeds and their benchmark sale are excluded rather than inventing an opening portfolio. Members with no qualifying identified-stock purchase or with an incomplete required price path are omitted from the comparison.
- Mark positions through the November 5 close and add remaining uncommitted cash. Divide final synthetic value by the buy-midpoint budget and subtract 1 for the return. Dividends, fees, taxes, exact net buys, private holdings, cash yields, and unincluded family ownership are not measured.
- Start with hypothetical cash equal to the sum of 2026 model buy midpoints (not actual member cash). Buy synthetic shares at disclosed-date closes and mirror those dollar buys in the S&P 500 price index. Sales draw down synthetic holdings up to the 2026 modeled quantity; sales beyond those lot amounts are outside this incremental model. Uncommitted cash has no yield. Valuation uses November 5 closes; no unreported opening portfolio is invented. Both price-model measures exclude dividends; deltas are percentage points, not dollar gains or relative returns.
The aggregate year-to-date S&P price change is for context; a member’s matched benchmark turns over at the staged disclosure dates. A higher number here implies neither wrongdoing nor skill. This is not investment advice. Read the raw House Clerk / Senate eFD filings on the member’s Trades view.
